UPDATE: Five months later, predictably, the DVD player had died…
ORIGINAL REVIEW: I bought this TV for my office and for certain specific features, including most importantly the ability to play PAL video (I work in television and need cross-compatibility). Because of this feature, I’m keeping the TV but if I had bought it for an entertainment machine, I would probably have returned it.
The best thing about this TV/DVD combo is that it accepts numerous inputs, including VGA and other video ports, USB and flash cards and the aforementioned PAL DVDs. These were a selling point for me, however, the PAL playback is the only feature that has worked without a hitch.
* The VGA works adequately but the TV sometimes doesn’t recognize the computer — I have to turn the TV off and on, or switch inputs multiple times before the VGA shows up. The computer recognizes the TV adequately as a plug and play device but I found no drivers or firmware updates available on the Web site support section to help make the whole thing work smoother. VGA display is soft, as you would expect with a TV. Text is readable but not crisp. Streaming on Netflix via WMC looked terrible on my first try. I am considering trying a lower resolution.
* Using a USB stick I tried various types of files. JPGs looked unacceptably jaggy — far worse than the same images on my computer monitor or a DVD picture frame; I would never use this for a digital photo frame unless it looks better reading from a CD. I tried playing AVIs, MPEGs and WMV video. Few of the files were recognized and none played. This was a real disappointment as I had looked forward to this feature. Interface for reading from the card was about the industry standard, which is to say not pretty or terribly intuitive but you can basically get it to work.
* TV display is adequate depending on input. The display does fairly well with SD video, however HD was slightly distorted by the TV’s 16:10 aspect ratio. While you can adjust zoom on the DVD player, it doesn’t work with the TV input and there is no control for aspect ratio. This also means you can’t pillarbox SD images, but here the 16:10 ratio works in your favor and the picture looks fine.
HD was crisp at times, and heavily pixelated at other times, with identical clips looking fine on my Samsung 32 inch TV (i.e., it’s the TV not the source file). Native HD through the cable connection and tuner was superior to HDMI, which was noticably pixelated at times. This is on my desk, so I am sitting close, but even allowing for this, the display needs work. Unfortunately, less than half the channels on my cable system were recognized through the onboard tuner and only the local stations were in HD, so HDMI from the cable box appears to be my best option if I want to view in HD.
* Sound is fine, if unremarkable.
* Menus are clunky, but very few TVs have smooth and easy controls. They’re comparable to the industry standards but not a selling point.
If I were only interested in having a nice looking TV/DVD combo, especially if it were for pleasure use, there are better models priced lower. But for the PAL functionality, and since the main use for the TV is a combination monitor/office news TV, I’ll probably keep it, with reservations. But buyers should be aware of the model’s limitations.
One other plus: I had a query to FAVI about Amazon’s shipping estimate. I got an instant response and follow-up within a couple of hours, so big points for service.

I was looking for a 10″ or larger digital photo frame when I stumbled across this beauty.
For the price of a 10″ or 15″ digital photo frame the FAVI gives you a 720p LCD HDTV screen, a DVD player, a computer monitor, a digital photo frame w/slide show, a CD player, a TV Tuner, stereo speakers and a headphone jack all in one!
I am using the FAVI as a digital photo frame. Digital pictures with a resolution of 3072 X 2304 look spectacular on it. Sharp, crystal clear, wonderful color. Like with any TV you can adjust the brightness, contrast, color, sharpness and tint. It even has presets like your typical HD TV.
I just plug the memory card from my digital camera into the side of the FAVI and it loads the pictures automatically. The FAVI lets you choose from about 14 different screen wipes, or you can choose “random” and use all the wipes. You can set the slide show to “repeat”, and like most TV’s it has an off timer, so you can set it to turn off.
I am very happy with this unit. The screen produces fantastic images. DVD’s look great on it. The remote is like a standard TV/DVD remote. It has a volume control etc. The DVD player plays NTSC and PAL DVD’s!!! It also plays DVD-R & DVD-RW discs.
The sound of the FAVI is completely adjustable, and again comes with presets for speech, music, movies, custom, etc. Typical HD TV settings presets available for picture and sound.
This unit is an excellent bargain for the price, I highly recommend it.
I am so happy with this unit I think i will buy another one.
A 19 inch LCD HDTV screen at 720p provides an excellent picture.
Don’t buy a digital photo frame, they are a waste of money compared to this product. Get a FAVI, I did.
The instruction manual for the FAVI leaves much room for improvement, but if you’ve got a laptop, HDTV, cellphone, ipod, and can work them fairly well you will have no problem with it.
I bought a Smart-Parts digital photo frame for a $150 on Amazon. I left it on for 3 weeks and it died. It’s garbage. On the back of the photo frame there was a small sticker that read: do not leave on more than 8 hours”. The instruction manual never mentioned you had to turn it off after 8 hours.
So now I am using the FAVI as my digital photo frame/night light, DVD/CD player, computer/game monitor.
I hope they make one of these things with blu-ray High Def, and make it connect to the internet, do my laundry, feed the cat, take out the garbage, and fold my clothes…ah that will be the day!

This is an inexpensive integrated DVD and 19-inch LCD HDTV. So I wasn’t expecting the best quality. I am rating this product based upon absolute quality perceptions.
With default “middle” settings, the colors are washed out and too bright. Also, faces appear a little too pink. I fiddled with the brightness, contrast, color and tint settings and found a reasonable compromise. Not great but OK.
The volume of the TV and DVD are quite different. The DVD at 100% is about the same as the TV at 50%. When on my treadmill I have the TV set at about 80% (turning it up any further seems to have little additional increase in perceived volume). It’s just barely enough to hear. The DVD is hopeless even at 100% and will not overcome the volume of the treadmill at all. This issue is common for sets of this size, so I wouldn’t consider this a unique issue.
I guess my next stop is to get headphones and a long adaptor cable to connect them. Meanwhile, I turned on subtitles.
I have only had this set for 2 weeks or so, so I cannot speak to reliability. So far, so good.
Functionally I don’t like the way the DVD works versus the TV. It would be nice if I could bounce between the two at whim and pick up where I left off. Unfortunately, switching to a non-DVD function basically turns off the DVD completely, so when you come back to it, you are starting over and have to scan your way back to where you think you left off.
Channel switching with digital channels is an issue. This works OK but sometimes there’s a delay. It works best in analog channels, with fairly little delay. But in digital channels it can get really fussy. You go up channel by one and you can wait a few seconds before you finally get signal. If there is no signal, or not a perceivable one, switching to the next good channel or typing it in can take forever. A solid minute before the set becomes responsive. Pretty bad. Not sure what causes that.
Finally, for aesthetics, I would prefer the cable connect below rather than the side. Coax cables are fairly stiff and need room to bend, so it looks rather ugly hanging out the side of the TV to give it room to make it’s way around.

Very nice small and light-weight HDTV/DVD with built-in QAM. I was not sure about the QAM which allows you to get HD signals without a cable box, but got a quick email answer from the mfgr./distributor confirming its presence. I sit 7-8′ away and supposedly should get a 27-32″ HDTV. Initially, other than some tinniness to the sound, I was quite pleased with the viewing experience: the picture is clear, bright, with text easy to read. I saw somewhere that it has a high-end Samsung LCD, which I understand is a plus.
Regarding the SOUND: By moving the balance from left to right and back again, I found that the tinny sound was due to a defective right speaker. I emailed the mfgr. and was immediately issued a pre-paid Fed-Ex label to return the TV. I received a replacement in about a week. The sound is now PERFECT: even Surround Sound ain’t half bad, something you just wouldn’t expect from a small TV. The volume is adequate more than adequate…in fact, when turned up I can hear it from 2 rooms away. Now THAT is power.
There are plenty of (easy) user adjustments, & various connectors (on the left side/back). The DVD player is on the right side/back.
The manual is simple; the remote is fairly intuitive; the unit is loaded with pre-sets and adjustments: brightness, sharpness, contrast, etc. You can amuse yourself for hours with just the buttons on the remote.
The most fun is the ZOOM located right on the remote: with it you can easily change the aspect ratio from normal to wide, etc…a clever idea that lets you get the picture just the way you find most comfortable, especially since we are still getting both analog and digital signals which come in a different ratio. Under “menu,” again there are many choices: ex., there’s one for “normal,” “warm” or “cool,” which changes the picture colors’ warmth just a bit.
This TV is light & thin, easy to move (I really didn’t want a 30-40 lb. monster). It can slip in almost anywhere without worrying about angle of view or light interference. It came quickly with very good, easy to re-do packaging. The only thing I would have loved to see is the DVD be a DVD/R. But I guess ya can’t have it all.
Oh, and I might add: I use a splitter from just the cable with no box. However, my splitter is powered. I have 4 things plugged into it. The FAVI is connected by a co-axial cable stated to be shielded and good for HDTV. It works fine. As a test, I had 3 TV’s and the internet running at the same time with no loss anywhere. A powered splitter is essential for more than one TV off cable without a box…of ANY make or model.
I used to work with digital imaging in medicine. I have more than a “good eye,” and am EXTREMELY PLEASED with the FAVI’s handling of both analog and digital signals. I highly recommend this quality, light-weight, easy to handle, fun HDTV, with QAM, and excellent support! Although I had a problem with the sound at first, the problem was quickly solved by the very pleasant mfgr/disributor.

I wanted a TV with built in DVD for the kitchen. Never heard of this brand but the price was right. I’ve had it for a few months and I’m happy with it. Picture is fine, DVD works, remote works. I wouldn’t want it for a primary tv. For having in the kitchen and watching morning news, TV or part of a movie while I’m getting dinner going or cleaning up, it’s perfect.
